How to Reach Kashmir
Planning a trip to the 'Paradise on Earth'? Reaching Kashmir is an essential part of your journey. Whether you prefer the speed of an airplane, the scenic allure of a train adventure, or the freedom of a road trip, there are various ways to arrive in the Kashmir Valley.
By Air
Srinagar International Airport (SXR) is the primary gateway for those flying into Kashmir. It is well-connected with major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chandigarh. Flights are frequently available and provide breathtaking aerial views of the snow-capped Himalayan ranges.
By Train
The nearest major railhead is Jammu Tawi Railway Station, located approximately 260-300 km from Srinagar. Trains from all over India, such as the Rajdhani Express and Jammu Mail, arrive here daily. From Jammu, you can hire a private taxi, take a shared cab, or hop on a public bus to reach Srinagar.
By Road
A road trip to Kashmir is a dream for many. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) is the lifeline connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country. Driving through the majestic mountains, crossing the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, and eventually arriving in the valley is a scenic, albeit long, experience.
